After a surprisingly hot and sunny few days, the temperature has cooled once again – I’m slightly worried those 3 days of sunshine may have been Scotland’s summer but hopefully not!
Although the summer vibes were a little short lived, I can’t bring myself to put my new purchase of these Zara snakeprint shorts away just yet. I spotted the faux leather beauties in the sale section and couldn’t hide my happiness when I took them up to the till and found out they were only £5.99! Those who know me know I am a complete bargain hunter – I’d say about 70% of my wardrobe is either sale or eBay finds (I feel not spending a lot prevents any shopping guilt?).
This is my first proper outfit post and I will admit I’ve been slightly anxious to get in front of the camera as I’m usually the one taking pictures instead, so please do let me know what you think either in the comments or Tweet me @rachellawler_.

After a serious spring clean, I accidentally reversed all my good clear out work by buying a few treats to get me into the new season. Although I am a complete shopaholic, I sadly do not have the budget I so desire. I thought I would share some of my favourite recent buys, all under £30 to give a guilt-free shop (kind of..)
1. I was just about finished my usual YSL Babydoll mascara when I was invited to Benefit’s Roller Lash launch in Glasgow. It took me until now to try it out and I have to admit I’m a complete convert to it now. I really notice how much it curls my lashes – and the packaging is 10/10 too!
2. After borrowing my sister’s denim jacket for pretty much the whole summer last year, I decided to invest in my own for SS15 (much to my sister’s relief too). Another H&M buy, it is the perfect fit and a great price compared to other retailers.
3. There’s a reason why New Look have won multiple Best Footwear awards in the past few years. I had to grab this pair of nude strappy sandals as they are a complete dupe of my shoe lust – the Yves Saint Laurent Tribute.
 4. It isn’t just my wardrobe getting an update, I thought my room and work space deserved a little Tender Loving Style too! This IKEA plant has given the fresh feel I was looking for – the best part being I don’t even need to remember to water it as it’s plastic!
5. Admittedly, my diet has taken a complete nosedive in the past few months so when better to start trying to get on the healthy eating bandwagon than having summer holiday body aspirations on the mind?! I loved the imagery and easy to understand recipes of this Love Food book and can’t wait to try out some clean eating.
The Clean Eating Kitchen, £3.99 at Dobbies

6. I’m not entirely sure why it has suddenly become so popular, but pineapples are everywhere interior-wise. Primark have not missed out on the fruity fun with this ceramic pineapple candle – stylish and costing less than a sandwich, what’s not to love?

7. Continuing with Primark’s pineapple loving, I couldn’t help pick up this bargain cushion. Okay, it may not be the most practical thing in the world but it will add a pop of colour to my office chair and keep me thinking of tropical getaways come summer (I wish).

8. What do they say again? Three’s a trend? Yes, that is another pinepple – this time in necklace form. After seasons of statement necklaces, I’m quite partial to a trinket necklace which is a little more delicate for spring so this River Island find was a nice little surprise.
9. Forever 21 is the perfect place for a cheap and cheerful mood-booster and they didn’t let me down on my recent visit to the Glasgow store with this colourful wallet. The ‘Je t’aime’ gold lettering gives it a more expensive look and reminds me of Kate Spade’s accessories. I’ll be using it as a travel wallet when I jet off to Marbella later this month.

On a surprisingly sunny Friday morning, I headed to Silverburn Shopping Centre for the start of their Spring Beauty Fix with a rather lovely Bloggers Brunch, held in Debenhams’ specially created Style Cafe.
I always love Silverburn’s Fashion and Beauty events, infact I was involved in organizing their Autumn Fashion Fix show and activities back in 2013 and know how enthusiastic and passionate the amazing marketing team are in all things style! Debenhams was the perfect place to start the beauty fun with their massive beauty hall.
After a refreshing brekkie of smoothies, fresh fruit salads and delicious pastries, we had a VIP masterclass on how to achieve the Giorgio Armani ‘glow’. I admittedly can get stuck in a bit of a beauty rut at times so it was great getting some new tips on updating my make up look, especially on using a bold red lipstick as my comfort zone is more a natural nude shade.
Although the Spring Beauty Fix weekend is over for this season, make sure you keep your eyes peeled for Silverburn’s next event; there are always amazing savings and giveaways (the Spring Beauty Fix was even giving away a £10 Silverburn gift card when you brought in 5 old beauty products).

Scotland may be small, but we do have an ever growing fashion scene and the Debenhams Press Show is always a season highlight.
The SS15 show marked a new location for the always popular show – the last few have been held at Glasgow’s Blysthwood Square hotel so the mega move to Gallery of Modern Art was rather exciting. It really gave the show an added wow-factor with the incredible details of the Gallery especially the high ceilings and grand pillars.
The show itself was kept short and sweet and – as always – really captured the most stylish collections available in the department store. From embellished gowns perfect for a summer wedding to the swimwear which had the audience in awe (admittedly, this was also down to the perfectly toned models who had everyone planning their immediate trips back to the gym).
Sipping champagne while looking at the new collections really confirms there is no better way to spend a rainy Thursday evening in the city centre! Roll on spring summer..

I am so excited for spring to properly start – I love the fresh feel fashion that starts to take over the shop, with swimwear and pretty pastel shades filtering in.
As much as booking a summer holiday is on everyone’s mind right now, I think mini city breaks are just as important – a treat after a rather horrible winter or just a little pick me up to get away from it all for a few days. Last year, as soon as I returned from Ibiza in July with major post-holiday blues, I was already onto thinking about my next trip. I usually would make excuses, that I couldn’t afford another holiday or that I wouldn’t have time to take from work, but I couldn’t get the thought out my head! I ended up convincing my boyfriend that a city break was the perfect Ibiza blues cure and we settled on Barcelona, somewhere I had never been.

We booked the lovely little Wilson Boutique Hotel on Avenue Diagonal. It was the perfect choice, a little out the way of the busy Las Ramblas but near some nice little shops, bakeries and a short walk from the Metro. The hotel itself is compact, but the rooms are modern with friendly staff and roof terrace. It might have been because of the time of year we went, but the roof terrace was pretty much ours for the whole 4 days – perfect to enjoy a mini bottle of prossecco (or three).

There’s so much to see in Barcelona, from the beautiful beaches, Gaudi masterpieces, street cafes and bars and pretty marina to the vibrant food market, amazing shopping opportunities and – of course – the Barcelona zoo. Spring time mini break inspiration sorted!

We stayed for 4 nights from Friday 3rd October at the Wilson Boutique Hotel, 568 Avinguda Diagonal, 08021, Barcelona in a Standard Double Room for approximately £80 per night based on 2 people sharing. We departed from Glasgow Prestwick airport to Barcelona El Prat airport on Friday evening, returning on Tuesday afternoon with Ryanair; flights were approx. £109 return per person.
