BOBBI BROWN #CANTLIVEWITHOUT MASTERCLASS

THE MASTERCLASS

Bobbi Brown has always been one of my go-to brands. From the first gel eyeliner I bought to my fave shimmer brick, it’s one of the long-standing brands in my makeup bag.

I was pretty excited when the invite to their #CANTLIVEWITHOUT masterclass arrived in my inbox, especially as it was being taught by Glasgow’s very own BB Pro artist Aimee Morrison who I worked with on one of my first big shoots years ago.

Aimee’s makeup talent is seriously impressive and I couldn’t wait to pick up some top tips from her!

CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT

The masterclass set up was amazing, with our own makeup station and all of the #CANTLIVEWITHOUT products for us to try.

The 10 #CANTLIVEWITHOUT picks were all chosen by customers, bringing together the ultimate BB makeup must-haves.

GETTING STARTED

After taking all my makeup off, a scary thing to do in public I have to say, Aimee soon spoke us through each of the ten stages in creating a gorge Bobbi Brown look.

1 // VITAMIN ENRICHED FACE BASE (£43)

A Bobbi Brown bestseller, it’s not hard to see why this base made the cut. It’s a primer and moisturiser for smooth makeup application, the oil-free face formula, with Shea Butter, instantly hydrates, softens and cushions skin.

Aimee tells us to use a small amount pre-foundation and it honestly feels like a dream on the skin, giving a really natural radiance and plump up.

I’ve never tried any Bobbi Brown skincare before this, but I’m really impressed by the instant results of the primer.

2 // CORRECTOR (£19.50)

I have to admit: I have never purchased an under eye corrector in my life. Oh, how wrong I was. Emily from the Bobbi Brown team at Debenhams Glasgow colour-matched me for this (and my foundation and concealer) and I had no idea the difference a corrector could make!

Aimee showed us how to apply this from the inner corner of your eye, then along under your lashes pre-foundation and I honestly could not believe how much it brightened my under eye.

My shade is Light Peach and I’m never going to be without this peachy delight again.

3 // INSTANT FULL COVER CONCEALER (£23)

With my under eye living its best life, my current breakout was kinda ruining my vibe. Luckily for me, the third #CANTLIVEWITHOUT is the BB concealer.

Aimee used a tiny amount of this to cover blemishes and redness, a little does go a long way. The product isn’t too heavy and still gives great coverage.

4 // SKIN LONG-WEAR WEIGHTLESS FOUNDATION (£31)

With our faces prepped properly, the foundation went on so nicely. Using the brush, you can build it up to achieve the coverage you want.

5 // SKIN FOUNDATION STICK (£31)

Great for touching up your makeup on the go, Aimee showed us how you can use the foundation stick to add a little more warmth to your base. You can either use a shade close to your foundation or go darker to create a more contoured feel.

6 // POT ROUGE FOR LIPS & CHEEKS (£22)

I could not believe how well this blush blended, I’m always a bit cautious of a cream blush, but Aimee’s top tip was to smile and apply the product to the apple of your cheek and swipe out to your hairline using your brush.

I opted for the Fresh Melon shade, a lovely peachy tone, but some of the other girls mixed two shades to create another look. Such a good product for honeymoon or hen weekends as you can use it on your cheeks and lips for a summery beauty feel.

7 // PERFECTLY DEFINED LONG-WEAR BROW PENCIL (£30)

With our skin looking glowy, Aimee moved onto the brows. She advised the perfect brow pencil colour is one as close to your real brow hair shade.

The pencil itself is slanted and thin so it gives you really good control and mimics hair so your brows look full and natural.

8  // LONG-WEAR CREAM SHADOW STICK (£23)

As someone obsessed with a smokey eye, I feel disappointed in myself that I’d never tried one of these shadow sticks. Aimee said one of her fave shades was Golden Bronze, which sounded very suited to me and oh-my-goodness-you-need-this-in-your-life.

It glides on so effortlessly and can be buffed out with your brush if you want a more subtle look or, like me, you can build it up for more of a statement. I love!

9 // SMOKEY EYE MASCARA (£24.50)

Of course, what’s a good smokey eye without a good mascara? Bobbi Brown have formulated this mascara to create a serious impact – it gives a whole lot of lash drama from just one coat.

10 // LUXE LIP COLOR (£27)

We finished up the masterclass with our favourite lip colour. Some of the others in the class went for classic reds and more bold colours, but I couldn’t resist the Pink Nude. Perfect for daytime or a more natural look.

I feel I picked up loads of good tips in getting my makeup to last longer and you can do the same too.

If you head to a Bobbi Brown counter, the lovely teams can match you up with your own #CANTLIVEWITHOUT shades.
