(*Okay, when I say recent study, I mean I asked my friends ‘isn’t champagne brunch the best meal of the day?’ and they all said ‘yes’ which I think is a pretty accurate reflection of the rest of the world’s opinions, no?)
Anyway, I digress. When I got the invite to celebrate Côte Brasserie Glasgow‘s first birthday at their West Nile Street eatery, I will admit I had not actually visited before so I was pretty exciting to try it out. Heading to the brasserie on a Sunday morning for a bloggers brunch is pretty much the ideal weekend set up (especially when it involves one of your faves also celebrating her engagement! Champagne all round for The Girl With The Big Hair who is also now with a dazzling diamond ring – seriously, go see it on her Instagram, its a beaut!)
After much hysteria over said ring, it was time for mimosas, because brunch without alcoholic orange juice is actually illegal. We started food proceedings with some yummy pastries (pain au chocolat for me) and took our time to peruse the menu, there are lots of scrumptious brunch options. I went for my favourite, eggs royale, and we had our first full glass of champagne, because if you can’t have a glass of bubbles when your friend has just got engaged and you’re celebrating the actual brasserie’s birthday, then really – when can you?!
As we waited for the brunch dishes to arrive, I could really take in the surroundings of the brasserie itself. It has such a lovely, inviting atmosphere with glossy yet welcoming interiors and friendly staff. The food was delicious; the smoked salmon was a great quality and the eggs were cooked just right. They even have sweet little marble tables outside for some al fresco dining. We enjoyed our morning so much, myself, Yasmin and Victoria actually returned last weekend for some more brunch (and a lot more champagne). I think we’ve found our favourite new Sunday spot..
