5 Autumn Coats I Need In My Life

I’m so excited that it’s finally cold enough to bring out the coats. I love sunny but really cold days where you can wrap up in lovely outerwear.

With such long winters, I see a coat as an investment and keep them in as good condition as I can to get a few years’ wear. I always treat myself to a new coat and a new pair of boots each year though – spending so much time in these in the Scottish weather seems worth it!

I thought I would round up 5 of my current favourites, all contenders for my autumn wardrobe! I would love to hear which one you like best and if you will be buying a new coat. Comment me or Tweet me @rachellawler_.

You know on a really cold morning when all you want to do is take your duvet with you to keep warm? Well, this is the jacket equivalent. I can feel the cosy vibes from here. Wear with leather trousers and heeled boots for a chic look.

2. Faux Shearling Biker Jacket, Missguided (£50)
This is what I imagine a biker teddy bear coveting for his teddy bear road trips and I mean this in the best way possible. Perfect for days not cold enough for a full on coat.

3. Melton Clean Cape, Topshop (£85)
I’m not usually a cape kinda gal (I sometimes feel they restrict my movement too much, not ideal when I seem to just be running around all the time). I love the simplicity of this one, however, and the neutral colour is great for matching up with your AW wardrobe.
As someone who feels cold 89% of their life, I adore a faux fur coat for extra warmth. Yes, slightly more expensive, but it’s a real classic, timeless piece which will take you through many winters. Wear full-on glam over a Christmas party dress or, my favourite way, with skinny jeans and trainers for laid-back cool.
5. Grey Longline Coat, New Look (£49.99)
Everyone should have a good grey coat, I bought one in Zara 2 years ago and it has been one of the most worn pieces I’ve ever had. I love the slightly boyfriend-look of this one and for under £50, it is a complete bargain!

What coats have you been eyeing up? I would love to hear from you in the comments below or on Twitter @rachellawler_.
