let’s go shopping

Day to Night: St Enoch Summer Style

The countdown is officially on for Glasgow’s first ever Style Mile Shopping Festival. If you have read my earlier post here, you will know how excited I am for an actual festival dedicated to fashion and beauty.

Glasgow has always been my go-to for a proper shopping day; from a young age I have been a complete shopaholic (I blame my style loving mum!). Every so often, especially before a big occasion or a holiday, we would go into Glasgow early morning on a Saturday and shop all day, taking time to go around all the shops, trying things on and stopping for coffee breaks (or Ribena breaks for me then). I can still vividly remember going to the St Enoch Centre when there was still an ice rink, heading to the Disney Store to spend my pocket money; it is somewhere which fills me with happy memories of those days spent with my Mum, Dad and sister. This little ritual has now been going on for about 20 years, although now it usually concludes with dinner and a glass of prosecco!
With so much shopping time spent in Glasgow over the years, when St Enoch’s challenged me to find the perfect summer outfit of course I said yes! If there’s a challenge I’m confident in winning, it would involve shopping. I decided to give myself an added bonus round and create two summer looks for £75 and under each; a day to night look with just a quick accessory change (the grand total for both looks I’m wearing came to £88). It was so much fun going round St Enoch’s to put together wearable looks, I wanted the look to be easy to pack and nice to wear in the sunshine. There is such a good selection of stores within the centre, from H&M and Debenhams to Topshop and Dorothy Perkins that the challenge was actually liking too much!
I went for the bright Topshop aztec skirt as I think it is the perfect piece for summer; the colours just make me want to book a holiday! For those jetting off somewhere nice, I would wear this daytime look over a bikini with these fabulous H&M mirrored sunglasses. I love the sandals, I’ve seen so many on the high street but at £9.99, these Garage Shoes versions are an absolute bargain and super comfortable. Going from beach to bar, simply add a simple sparkle necklace like this H&M pendant, swap into studded sandals and add a holiday vibes clutch bag and you’re ready to go!
During the Style Mile Shopping Festival, St Enoch’s has loads of activities with the fabulous Julie Hannah. First up is her Spring Fashion Fix on Friday 27th which consists of 15 minute style sessions; if you pre-register online you will even get a free St Enoch Centre voucher to indulge in some Fashion Fix inspired shopping. Continuing the fashion fun, Saturday 28th will have Julie’s If the Shoe Fits game, giving you the chance to win a free pair of shoes. Sunday 29th, Julie will be back with her Beauty Fix, sharing lots of beauty tricks plus mini makeovers and hand massages. All of these activities are completely free and will be happening on the ground floor outside the Boots store from 12-4pm. You can find out everything on the St Enoch Centre website here
I would love to know what you think of the outfits and hope you enjoy the Shopping Festival!
