let’s go shopping

TAKE ME BACK TO BARCELONA

I am so excited for spring to properly start – I love the fresh feel fashion that starts to take over the shop, with swimwear and pretty pastel shades filtering in.
As much as booking a summer holiday is on everyone’s mind right now, I think mini city breaks are just as important – a treat after a rather horrible winter or just a little pick me up to get away from it all for a few days. Last year, as soon as I returned from Ibiza in July with major post-holiday blues, I was already onto thinking about my next trip. I usually would make excuses, that I couldn’t afford another holiday or that I wouldn’t have time to take from work, but I couldn’t get the thought out my head! I ended up convincing my boyfriend that a city break was the perfect Ibiza blues cure and we settled on Barcelona, somewhere I had never been.

We booked the lovely little Wilson Boutique Hotel on Avenue Diagonal. It was the perfect choice, a little out the way of the busy Las Ramblas but near some nice little shops, bakeries and a short walk from the Metro. The hotel itself is compact, but the rooms are modern with friendly staff and roof terrace. It might have been because of the time of year we went, but the roof terrace was pretty much ours for the whole 4 days – perfect to enjoy a mini bottle of prossecco (or three).

There’s so much to see in Barcelona, from the beautiful beaches, Gaudi masterpieces, street cafes and bars and pretty marina to the vibrant food market, amazing shopping opportunities and – of course – the Barcelona zoo. Spring time mini break inspiration sorted!

We stayed for 4 nights from Friday 3rd October at the Wilson Boutique Hotel, 568 Avinguda Diagonal, 08021, Barcelona in a Standard Double Room for approximately £80 per night based on 2 people sharing. We departed from Glasgow Prestwick airport to Barcelona El Prat airport on Friday evening, returning on Tuesday afternoon with Ryanair; flights were approx. £109 return per person.
